Peggy A. Korellis, Ed.D. serves as the Interim President of Richard J. Daley College

Dr. Korellis has over 30 years of experience serving students through public education, at both the secondary and post-secondary levels. Dr. Korellis began her career in higher education as the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Harry S Truman College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. Since then, she has accepted increasingly responsible roles within City Colleges, such as Dean of Education, Human and Natural Sciences at Truman College, Interim Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Truman College, Interim President at Harold Washington College, and most recently as Vice Chancellor of High School Strategy with the District Office. At CCC Dr. Korellis has overseen the implementation of the Chicago Roadmap, a comprehensive partnership with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to collaborate and provide greater access to high quality pathways, a more streamlined enrollment experience as well as supporting college readiness in math & English. Some of the Roadmap accomplishments include implementation of four Model Pathways in high-wage, high-growth industries in 22 high schools, a 73% increase in Early College enrollment, a 234% increase in the number of CPS students earning 15+ college credits prior to high school graduation, the implementation of the Options for the Future Scholarship which led to a 130% growth of Options graduates enrolled at CCC, a 17% increase in college readiness in both math and English.
She spent the first ten years of her professional life as a classroom teacher, teaching grades 7 and 9-12 in Indiana, Athens, Greece, and at Richards Career Academy High School of the Chicago Public Schools. At Richards, she developed a literacy curriculum that helped the school more than double their reading scores, which then prompted her to leave the classroom to serve as a Literacy Coach with 14 high schools on the far south side, supporting their development of secondary literacy programs. She was then an assistant principal at Corliss high school, and was selected to be the founding principal of TEAM Englewood Community Academy High School. Dr. Korellis served as principal for 5 years, leading the first graduating class to 60% college enrollment, and increasing that to 74% with the second graduating class. She was then promoted to Deputy Chief of the Southside Network.
Interim President Korellis holds a doctorate in Urban Education Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a master’s in secondary education/language arts and a bachelor’s in secondary education/ English—both from Indiana University.
