Art and Architecture

Welcome to the Department of Art and Architecture at Harold Washington College


Auxiliary Services

Oversees the day-to-day operations related to Campus Building Management and Operations in an effort to provide an efficient, safe and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff and the general public.


Biological Science

The department offers courses for both majors and nonmajors. For majors, this is a stepping stone to careers in the medical, paramedical, allied health, biotechnology, molecular biology and other biological science fields.


Several of the Business programs offered at Harold Washington College are nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business and Programs (ACBSP).


Business Services

Business Services is responsible for protecting the assets of the college by ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to while maintaining the financial integrity of the college.


Cabinet Members

President Daniel López, Ph.D. is the chief executive, administrative, and education officer and derives authority from, and is responsible to the Chancellor of the City Colleges of Chicago and the Board of Trustees.


Center of Excellence in Business (COEB)

The COEB in Business at HWC strives to provide academic programs and pathways across all disciplines. Guided by our goals of entrepreneurship, and professional services for students aiming for both four-year institutions and/or high demand careers.


Chicago Legal Clinic

The mission of Chicago Legal Clinic is to identify the legal needs and provide community-based quality services and education to the underserved and disadvantaged in the Chicago area, thereby promoting justice through greater access to the legal system.


Child Development

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Preschool Education is accredited by the Commission on Early Childhood Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).


Continuing Education

Continuing Education non-credit courses are available for students seeking personal and/or professional development.


Early College

Harold Washington Early College program allows students to take college level courses while still in high school, reducing both the time and the money needed to earn a college degree.

English Language Learners

Welcome to the English Language Learning Department at Harold Washington College. We offer three levels of English as a Second Language courses designed for the academic success of non native English speakers.

English, Speech, Theatre, and Journalism

The Department of English, Speech, Theatre, and Journalism offers general education courses in the areas of written and oral communication skills, literature, journalism, and theatre.

The Harold Washington College Paralegal Program is designed to prepare students to become highly trained paralegals to meet the needs of corporations, law firms and offices, and other sectors where law related work is performed.

Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA)

The Workforce Innovation Act (WIOA) is a law which provides training for people who are out of work, and who need training to change career paths or whose skills need improvement in order to obtain a new job.
