Nursing (AAS) Programmatic Outcomes Data

Traditional AAS Nursing Degree Cohort: Students entering the program in Nursing 101. An Associates in Applied Science (AAS) Nursing Degree is conferred upon graduation.

LPN Bridge Cohort: Licensed Practical Nurses returning to complete an AAS Nursing Degree.  Students have successfully completed Nursing 102 when they enroll in the second year of the AAS Nursing Degree Program.

The methodology (Glossary of Terms) for the LPN Cohort and the Traditional Cohort are followed below respectively and the data is combined together as an aggregate to form the Combined Cohort data table.

Glossary of Terms (ADN)

Traditional Students 

Enrollment: The number of students enrolled in Nursing 101 for the first time in the given calendar year.  

Completion: The percentage of the total students in the enrollment cohorts that completed the degree program within 100% (four semesters) of starting the program.  

 

Bridge Students 

Enrollment: The number of students that enrolled in the bridge section of Nursing 102 for the first time in the given calendar year.  

Completion: The percentage of the total students in the enrollment cohorts that completed the degree program within 100% (three major semesters) of starting the program. 

 

Exam Pass Rate: The percent of graduates who passed the certification exam in a given calendar year. 

Retention: The percent of the enrollment cohort that were retained to the subsequent Fall or Spring semester of the program.

Job Placement Rate: The percent of graduate survey respondents that are employed as a registered nurse (RNs) within the first twelve months after program completion.

Job Placement Data Source: Job placement data is collected by Malcolm X College’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness through a Fiscal Year Graduate and Certificate Completer Survey for all career and technical education (CTE) programs. This survey is administered through Qualtrics, between 12 or 18 months post-completion.
