Nephrology - The Profession

Nephrology Renal Technology Dialysis Training Program at Malcolm X College teaches and trains students to become entry level Dialysis Technicians/ Technologists. Dialysis Technician/ technologists are members of a health care team skilled to provide Dialysis to patients whose kidneys are no longer functioning. Technicians/Technologists operate technical and sophisticated medical equipment, follow the physician order and work under the supervision of Nurses to remove excess fluids and toxins from the circulatory system of patients. They monitor, adjust settings, and record patient data during dialysis. Technician/Technologists also use associated medical support equipment and perform safe handling and cleaning of the equipment.
