Assessment of Student Learning Committee

The Assessment of Student Learning Committee works closely with the Executive Director of Assessment and Evaluation to monitor and champion assessment-related work throughout the institution. It is comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators from various divisions across the institution including, academic departments, programs, student services, and student activities. 

Charge Statement

The Malcolm X College Assessment of Student Learning Committee is a faculty-driven committee that supports the systematic assessment of student learning to promote continuous institutional improvement by acting on assessment data. The committee educates the College community on effective assessment practices, coordinates assessment activities across academic and co-curricular areas, fosters faculty collaboration, and ensures that assessment data are used to inform division or department development, institutional planning, and administrative decision-making.

Mission Statement

The Assessment of Student Learning Committee encourages the intentional measurement of student learning in order to drive data-informed, reflective decision-making about classroom instruction, academic programs, and co-curricular initiatives. We do this through professional development, systematic reporting, and honest conversations in an effort to hold ourselves and the entire campus community accountable for the advancement of teaching and learning.

Vision Statement

Through intentional measurement of student learning outcomes and the student experience, the faculty and staff of Malcolm X College will continually advance student learning and success through data-informed improvements at the classroom, department or division, and institutional level.

Membership

Membership is open to the entire College community. All full-time employees of the College whose job description concerns any area of student learning, classroom, co-curricular, or administrative, are considered de-facto members of the Assessment of Student Learning Committee. Those interested in joining the Committee can contact one or both of the co-chairs to be added to calendar invitations and the Committee’s roster. The Committee meets on the second Friday of each month during the academic year.
