Assessment Committee Chair

An essential component of Olive-Harvey College’s effort to improve student learning.

The Olive-Harvey Assessment Committee is an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental group composed of faculty, staff, and administrators. This committee is dedicated to ensuring that assessment at OHC is a comprehensive, faculty-driven process focused on improving student learning. To that end, the committee coordinates and supports the collection, review, analysis, and dissemination of data using equitable, ongoing, and iterative processes to ensure the highest standard of learning for all students.

As outlined in the charge, the assessment committee is committed to:

  1. Establishing and ensuring appropriate assessment procedures and practices.
  2. Facilitating the collection, review, analysis, and dissemination of information/data regarding student learning.
  3. Providing a forum for dialogue regarding assessment issues to support a college culture of improvement, which includes the assessment process.
  4. Developing and encouraging an assessment culture at the institution

The Assessment Committee:

  • Reviews Assessment Committee core documents including the charge, handbook, and assessment calendar, and revises as needed.
  • Reviews/revises/maintains Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs) for assessment at the college level.
  • Researches and selects existing assessment tools and/or designs new assessment tools to measure achievement of institutional student learning outcomes.
  • Coordinates and supports the assessment of institutional student learning outcomes by creating an assessment plan and calendar.
  • Coordinates and supports the assessment of student learning outcomes within courses, programs, and co-curricular departments.
  • Analyzes assessment data.
  • Makes recommendations based on assessment findings.
  • Communicates assessment activities, findings, and recommendations through a variety of methods: website, reports, presentations, and other strategies.
