About SCLC

South Chicago Learning Center (SCLC), the satellite campus for Olive-Harvey College, is a vital community institution for South Chicago and the surrounding neighborhoods. Established in 1988, SCLC brings education and to the diverse community of Chicago’s south side. We offer adult education classes that include English as Second Language (ESL), High School Equivalency (HSE) prep class, Spanish GED classes, and others such as Computers, Citizenship, and Constitution. We offer college-credit courses and opportunities for students to connect to vocational and technical training as well.

As one of the most accessible higher education options in the community, we offer opportunities for students to achieve upward mobility. Our goal is to connect them to programs and services across Chicagoland that can assist them with achieving their personal, academic, and financial goals. (we don’t have any job services at SCLC) Students who enroll at SCLC can structure their educational pathway so they can earn a credential with the City Colleges of Chicago. (students cannot transfer directly from our programs)

Students can register online 24/7 or on campus Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Community organizations can reserve rooms or schedule a meeting by calling (773) 291-6770.

For Our Neighbors

SCLC works to support the South Chicago community—the same community that serves most of our students. We value collaboration with agencies and organizations to serve the educational, social and cultural needs of the community residents. A few of the groups we work with include:

  • El Valor
  • Metropolitan Family Services
  • Claretian Associates
  • Special Service Area 5
  • 10th Ward
  • St. Anthony
  • IPL Job Services
  • SEDCOM; and more!

Together, SCLC and our partners have offered workshops, referral services, and employment readiness resource fairs.

By connecting with our community in many ways, we are part of a network that is integral to the health and wellness of South Chicago and surrounding areas. We’re proud to be part of this neighborhood and serve it however we can.
