Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program
Kennedy-King College will offer BNA course offerings on-campus starting Fall 2026. Students are introduced to the discipline of nursing and the basic approaches to patient care. The role of the CNA as an assistant to the licensed nurse and member of the healthcare team is studied and practiced in the classroom, simulation laboratory, and clinical setting. Upon successful completion of all components of the program, the graduate must pass the state’s competency exam to become recognized as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Illinois.

Admissions Requirements
- Enrollment Requirements:
- Be a City Colleges of Chicago/ Kennedy-King College Student
- Attendance to the new student orientation is strongly encouraged
- Meet Illinois Department of Public Health program enrollment requirements:
- Age 16 years or above,
- Possess a Valid Social Security number or ITIN, and
- Clear Health Care Worker Background check
- Attend Mandatory Program Information Session
- Be a City Colleges of Chicago/ Kennedy-King College Student
- Academic Requirements:
- Eligible for English 96 or higher
- Eligible for Math 98 or higher
- Submit official/sealed college transcripts to Kennedy-King College’s Registrar’s Office (required). Students are not required to submit City Colleges of Chicago transcripts. Please allow yourself extra time, as international transcripts take longer to receive.
- It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all submitted transcripts have been evaluated and posted by a CCC Registrar (or their designee) on the student’s PeopleSoft academic history.
- Clinical Requirements:
- Possess an American Heart Association BLS/CPR Card
- Submit completed medical examination documentation
- Submit proof of immunization documentation
- Submit negative10-panel Urine Drug Screening

Become a City College of Chicago (CCC) student** at Welcome to City Colleges of Chicago – Apply today! · Attend the KKC New Student Orientation (Strongly Recommended), if you have not. Please notes: Completion of Steps 1–4 makes you a viable candidate. At that point, you will receive a CastleBranch voucher to submit your medical documents. All documents will be reviewed for medical compliance.

Classes
Five program offerings are scheduled each year – two in the spring and fall, one during the summer. Students are responsible for completing the required theory and clinical hours. Theory class is held 3-4 days per week (M-Th) for 5.5 hours each day completed by a scheduled minimum of 40 clinical hours by program end, at an external clinical site.
- Theory and Lab classes are held at Kennedy King College V-Building (747 west 63rd Street, Chicago, IL 60621)
- Clinical rotations are held at external clinical sites. Clinical sites are assigned based on availability
Class Times – Theory/Labs:
- Morning Classes: 9:00 am -3:00 pm;
- Afternoon Classes: 3:30 pm-9:30 pm
Clinical Times: 7:00 am -4:00 pm
