The Olive-Harvey College Continuing Education Program will offer the following course offerings for the Spring 2021 semester:                   
  • Aviation Technology Program -  This course introduces the theory and basic skills needed to assist aircraft sheet metal mechanics and to perform aircraft sheet metal modification and repair. Students develop skills in pattern layout, drilling, riveting, sheet metal bending, simple repairs, safely use basic hand and machine tools, identify basic material and hardware, common fastener installation/ removal, corrosion removal/treatment and print reading used in aircraft maintenance.      
  • Beginner and Advanced Computer Classes
  • Cannabis Business Tax - This course will focus on Federal, and state taxation of cannabis, the special accounting required for cannabis dispensary owners, and the ramifications of not calculating Federal taxes correctly. This course will also identify the taxation differences (in the state of Illinois) for those using marijuana for medical reasons, versus those using marijuana for recreational purposes. Finally, participants will understand what 280E is, why it is important, and how it applies to the taxation of cannabis.
  • Cannabis Entrepreneurship - This course is an overview of business and entrepreneurship fundamentals from the perspective of the cannabis industry. Students will obtain knowledge and gain an understanding of what it means to develop, start, grow and exit a viable business in the cannabis industry.
  • Certified Forklift Technician - To prepare students to earn their Certified Forklift Technician (CFT), MSSC offers online e-learning course training. This course is designed to align with MSSC Standards and to help individuals enhance their core knowledge and skills related to maintenance and repair of forklift vehicles. The CFT Online training is a suggested 55-hours of e-learning content.
  • Hazmat Safety Training - General Hazmat preparation for the CDL Hazmat endorsement test. Applicable to students who are applying for their initial commercial driver’s license (CDL); updating their current CDL; or obtaining a passenger, school bus, or hazardous materials endorsement for the first time.
  • Medicinal Cannabis - Medical Cannabis basics is an introduction of the medicinal uses for cannabis and how cannabis interacts with the human body to treat conditions and symptoms. The legal aspects of cannabis used for medicinal purposes is reviewed.
  • Palo Alto Cybersecurity - In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of Cybersecurity and identify the concepts required to recognize and potentially mitigate attacks against enterprise networks as well as mission critical infrastructure.
  • Snap On Multi Meter - General overview of the Digital Multimeter an invaluable tool for conducting tests on electronic devices.
  • Snap On Pro Link Certification - Introducing the broadest heavy duty coverage ever offered in a handheld diagnostic tool. Familiarize the user with the device and its menu to perform different functions. Identify EPA compliance times. Define diagnostics. Identify sections and applications of the scan tool and diagnostics screen.
  • 20-HR Unarmed Security Training - This course provides the basic training required to perform as an unarmed security officer or guard in the security industry. The training enables graduates to apply for a Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) through the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulations (IDFPR).
