Circulating Fines                                   

The normal borrowing period is two weeks. It is your
responsibility to return books on time. 
Materials may be renewed in person or by phone, (773) 602-5449 before
the due date. After hours, books may be returned to the book-drop outside of
the Library. You are responsible for fines for any late returns.                                        

Overdue fines Kennedy-King College Library has eliminated overdue fines for all circulating books.       

Standard fee for lost or damaged items: $150.00 and $5.00 processing
fee. Prices may vary based on the cost of the item. ​    

NOTE -  If a student
returns a book which they already paid the fine for, the library staff submits
the revision form to the business office and the business office will issue a
refund to the student.              

Lost or damaged books:         

When you are fined by the business office for your lost or
damaged book, please come to the Library and speak to a Librarian about options
to replace the lost or damaged books.                                                                      
        

Headphones:  There is
a $1.00 per hour late fee for headphones. If headphones are returned damaged,
then there is a $30.00 replacement fee. ​                                                            
        

Reserve Fines (non-textbook)                                      

Each three-day reserve book is charged a $2.00 per day
overdue fine. Each seven-day reserve book is charged a $1.00.                                                      ​       
        

Once a book is overdue for 3 weeks, the charge is placed on
your student account by the Business Office and must be paid there.                                                              
        

Standard fee for a lost item: $150.00 and $5.00 processing

Reserve Fines (Textbooks)         

Overdue fines for each two-hour reserve book (textbooks) is
$1.00 per hour.  Textbooks DO NOT LEAVE
THE LIBRARY. If you have taken a textbook out of the library, we will contact
security, and you will be fined the price of the textbook (even if the book is
returned).           

Laptops: There is a $5.00 per hour late fee for laptops. If
a laptop is returned damaged, then there is a $1,300.00 replacement fee. Listed

DO NOT LEAVE THE LIBRARY. If you have taken a laptop out of the library, we
will contact security, and you will be fined $100.00 (even if the laptop is
returned).    ​       

Scientific Calculators: There is a $1.00 per hour late fee
for Scientific Calculators. If calculator is returned damaged, then there is a
$140.00 replacement fee.
