Testing Coordinator

The Testing Resources Center administers a variety of testing services to students pursuing their academic goals.

Tests Administered

  • CCC Placement Test​ - All new students are required to complete placement tests in the area of English and Math before registering for classes unless waivers are applicable. If you believe you qualify for a waiver/exception, please contact Olive-Harvey Advising. (Main Campus)
    • English Placement (RTW)
      • Students will need to present identification.
      • It may only be taken once per year and scores are good for two years.

      • Please allow approximately 3 hours to take the English placement exam.
      • The test is graded by the Olive-Harvey English faculty and scores are generally available within approximately 72 hours after completion.

Thursday: 9:00am-2:00pm        
Friday: Appointment only    
    • ALEKS Placement Test
      • Student portal credentials are needed to take the test.
      • It may be taken up to five times per year and scores are good for one year.
      • The ALEKS math placement exam consists of approximately 30 questions.
      • Students are not allowed to use calculators however an onscreen calculator will appear for some questions for students to use. 
      • The ALEKS math placement exam is scored instantly once completed.                                               
  • Adult Education Tests
    • CASAS GOALS (GED)
    • CASAS STEPS (ESL)
  • Official GED ExaminationOfficial test for adults interested in obtaining their High School equivalency diploma. (Main Campus only)
  • Language Placement Test​ – For students taking their first world language course at City Colleges. (Main Campus)
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Exams (Main Campus by appointment only; a $30 administrative fee applies)
  • Ability to Benefit (ATB) – Testing for financial aid applicants with no high school diploma. (Main Campus)
  • External Institution Proctoring – For students enrolled at other colleges and universities. Exams are proctored in accordance with the policies and instructions provided by the external institution. (Main Campus by appointment only; a $30 administrative fee applies)

  • HESI nursing examination
  • Illinois nurse aide testing – for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students
  • ATI TEAS (nursing)
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) examination
  • Proctored exams in collaboration with other colleges/universities ($30 fee) 

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

Test Accommodations for students with disabilities are given in a manner consistent with the applicable requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. This includes offering and administering the test in a time, place and manner that is accessible, including the provision of appropriate modifications and auxiliary aids and services.               
                
Examples of appropriate modifications and auxiliary aids and services include a change in the length of time of examination for individuals with learning disabilities and Braille or large print examinations and answer sheets or qualified readers for individuals with visual impairments.               
                
Accommodations must be approved by the ACCESS Center prior to test administration.
