In fall 2023, the assessment committee reviewed Goal #2 – Inquiry and Analysis and its associated learning outcomes to determine if they needed updating, editing or changing. After completing a literature review and conducting cross-disciplinary discussions, the committee voted to make one small change to SLO #3 by removing “of social and physical phenomena” in order to encourage a wider interpretation of the SLOs. The committee also kept the variation in SLO#5 (see below) to ensure AS/AES seeking students had an additional outcome connected to their deeper studies in the sciences.

Included in the results is a summary of perceptions, barriers, and best practices identified in the data collected. The best practices enclosed within the report will support faculty in adjusting their teaching practices to more robustly embrace the notion of critical thinking in both general and specific ways.

- 2018 Study of Quantitative Skills Report
This study shows that students generally performed well in calculations but struggled with interpreting quantitative data and drawing meaningful conclusions. Faculty expressed concern that students may not have sufficient opportunities to demonstrate quantitative skills across disciplines, highlighting challenges in artifact selection and rubric applicability. The study emphasized the need for intentional assignment design, targeted professional development, and stronger interdisciplinary collaboration. Next steps include refining sampling processes, expanding teaching resources, and supporting faculty in integrating quantitative reasoning into diverse course contexts. - 2025 Quantitative Literacy Student Learning Outcomes Update
