BEGIN YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE AT TRUMAN COLLEGE WITH INTDSP 101
New students are strongly encouraged to enroll in College Succes, which is titled INDTSP 101 in the college catalog. It is graded and structured such that it reflects most classes students will take during their college education. It counts as an elective towards an associate's degree.
This course introduces students to the expectations of the college community and helps them develop skills that promote success during and after their college career.
Topics will include:
- Note-Taking Methods
- Study and Test-Taking Strategies
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
- Oral Communication
- Use of Technology and Library Resources
- Campus Support Services
- Time and Stress Management Strategies
- Career Exploration
In College Success Seminar we will discuss:
- What is success and what does it mean to "be successful?"
- What habits lead to success in college and how can I develop or strengthen these habits?
- How can I be a success-oriented student and where can I find support to achieve this goal?
- What motivates me and why?
- What type of learner am I?
- What can I start doing now to sucessfuly graduate/transfer in 2 years?
- Am I emotionally prepared for college?
