OH Wellness Center Practicum Details
The Olive-Harvey College Wellness Center Team welcomes Master’s graduate students in clinical/counseling psychology or social work seeking a Therapy practicum placement.
1) Ideal Applicants: Applicants should be compassionate, empathic and able to work with diverse populations. They should have a basic understanding of the helping profession and be open to provide services within an urban setting. Applicants should be cooperative and willing to work within a team setting while bringing their unique individual skills and personality. Lastly, applicants must be open to instruction and constructive feedback that will promote their own personal and professional development.
2) Supervision Philosophy at this site: Supervision is an important time for personal and professional growth. Each student will receive 1 hour of individual supervision, and 2 hours of group supervision per week.
LaTia Lane is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). LaTia is also a trained circle keeper and restorative justice practitioner. LaTia received her MSW from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She has years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Most of her work has been done with survivors of trauma providing individual and group therapy. Previous experience includes work in school, church, community center, homeless shelter, and juvenile court settings. LaTia has also done some work in Kenya and Ghana with families impacted by poverty and homelessness. LaTia utilizes a strengths-based approach, which helps clients utilize internal strengths and resources to build resilience. She understands the importance of relationship building and developing nurturing relationships in client growth. Her training style mirrors this with a focus on promoting both professional and personal growth.
Chastity Saucer, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Chastity has over 15 years of experience as a licensed social worker and a master’s in school psychology to understand and enhance the development of children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has served as a member of interdisciplinary, collaborative teams in determining eligibility, intervention and goals for students with concerns related to learning and misbehavior. Furthermore, she has provided clinical assessment, diagnostics, and treatment services in schools, healthcare settings, a church and community organizations. Chastity takes an interpersonal approach to therapy as she plays an active and intentional role in creating a safe and trusting environment, serving as a secure base and providing reparative relational experiences. This environment is the foundation upon which she builds to provide culturally responsive evidence-based interventions. As a supervisor, she hopes to provide trainees with the skills to create a sense of preparedness and confidence as they enter into clinical practice.
