Library Instruction Session Guidelines
- Instruction sessions must be requested a week before the date requested.
-
The instructor must be present during the library instruction session. Students usually are more engaged when the instructor is in the classroom.
- The best time for a library instruction session is after a research assignment has been assigned and students have chosen their topics. Students are more likely to be motivated to learn about research resources at the point of need.
- Please request a session early in the semester or when faculty return from break to reserve your preferred date(s) using the Library Instruction Request form. Computer labs are in high demand, and it is best to request an instruction session early in the semester to be assured we can schedule a computer lab during your class period.
- A face-to-face library instruction session should be held in a computer lab so that students can actively reinforce their learning through hands-on practice (searching databases, etc.). If your class meets in a smart classroom the librarian can visit your classroom.
- If your classroom does not have technology, and you would like a librarian to visit. Please notify us at least two weeks in advance so we can reserve a projection cart from Media Services.
