CHICAGO (Dec.
16, 2019) – City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) students who desire a four-year
degree will be able to make a seamless transition and take advantage of
scholarship opportunities through a new Dual Degree Program with Roosevelt
University.
Committed to
providing a way for more students to earn bachelor’s degrees close to home, the
institutions are rolling out a program that will make it easy for students to
obtain associate and bachelor’s degrees.
Under the
arrangement, Roosevelt will guarantee admission to all Dual Degree students who
complete associate degrees at one of the seven City Colleges in three years’
time with at least a 2.5 grade point average.
“Our goal is
to make it easy for Dual Degree students to transfer to Roosevelt,” said Erica
Poremba, executive director of community colleges and academic relations at
Roosevelt.
“That way
they won’t have to waste a lot of time on administrative details, enabling them
to hit the ground running with their studies,” she said.
Dual Degree
students would be eligible for bachelor’s degree programs offered by Roosevelt’s
College of Arts and Sciences, the Heller College of Business and the College of
Education.
As transfer
students, they also are eligible to apply for several Merit Scholarship
opportunities, Phi Theta Kappa or Preferred Partner Dual Degree Program awards,
as well as be considered for Roosevelt’s special endowed scholarships.
“I want to
thank Roosevelt for working with us to develop a dual degree program that will
make transfer simpler for City Colleges students,” said Chancellor Juan
Salgado. “The agreement offers students a clear goal to work toward and the
certainty that their efforts will pay off.”
In addition
to this new opportunity, qualified Star Scholars at City Colleges are eligible
for additional $9,000-$11,000 transfer scholarships at Roosevelt, which can be
combined with other scholarships.
