12/7/2017 12:00 PM

The Olive-Harvey College men’s basketball team has been recognized for its 11-0 start to the season as the Panthers earned the No. 9 ranking in the NJCAA’s first Division II top-20 poll of the year, which was released December 5. Olive-Harvey, one of five undefeated teams in the poll, is tied with North Arkansas College for most victories.

Sophomore forward Darias Oliver is shooting a team best 57 percent from the field and is first among the Panthers with averages of 15.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.  Sophomore guards Sean Atwater and Marquez Abernathy are averaging team highs of 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game, respectively.

This marks the first time Olive-Harvey has been ranked since it was No. 19 in the final poll of the 2014-15 season. The Panthers captured the Region IV Tournament that year and advanced to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
