Chicago, IL
– On Friday, September 13th, 36 new participants begin the Goldman
Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) program as the 25th Chicago
cohort at Harold Washington College, the City Colleges’ Center of Excellence in
Business, Professional Services, and Entrepreneurship.
The program
is an opportunity for small local businesses to gain practical skills like
negotiation, marketing and employee management, and get support as they develop
a strategic plan to grow their business. It also includes one-on-one business
advising, accounting workshops and advice from Goldman Sachs professionals.

Entrepreneurship, we are proud to welcome this landmark cohort to campus and to
host a program that is so important to small businesses in our communities,”
said Peggy Korellis, interim president at Harold Washington College.
A nationwide
program funded by Goldman Sachs, 10KSB helps entrepreneurs create jobs and
economic opportunity by providing them with greater access to education,
financial capital, and business support services, all at no cost to the
participant. The program boasts a 98% completion rate, and graduate success
includes:
- 47%
of alumni reported creating new jobs within 6 months
- 67%
of alumni reported an increase in revenues within 6 months
- 86%
of alumni are doing business with each other
10KSB is now
accepting applications for its 26th cohort, which is scheduled to
begin in January 2020. Applications are due on October 4th. More

As City
Colleges’ Center of Excellence in Business, Professional Services, and
