The methodology is based on the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).

Enrollment:  
The number of students enrolled in the program for the first time in the Fall semester of the prior academic year. The enrollment number includes re-entry student(s).     

ᵻ Enrollment Cohort: 
Students that enrolled in the program for the first time in the prior Fall semester (or re-enter into the program in the prior fall semester) are designated as the enrollment cohort for the stated academic year. The enrollment cohort may include re-entry student(s). There is one enrollment cohort for this program per academic year.        

Retention:
The percent of the enrollment cohortᵻ that were retained to the completion of the program. Retention is the same as the completion of the program.

Completion: 
The percent of the enrollment cohortᵻ that completed the degree within the 100% timeframe of the program. Students complete the program in the Spring semester of the academic year stated.         

ᶤ Graduates:
The number of students from the enrollment cohort that completed the program in 100% timeframe. ​      

Exam Participation Rate: 
The percent of graduatesᶤ that took the certification exam. 

Exam Pass Rate: 
The percent of graduatesᶤ that passed the licensure exam out of those who took the exam.

Graduate Placement Rate
The percent of graduatesᶤ that are employed in surgical technology within the first twelve months after program completion.        

Graduate Placement Data Source: Graduate job placement data is collected by Malcolm X College’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness through a Fiscal Year Graduate and Certificate Completer Survey for all career and technical education (CTE) programs. This survey is administered through Qualtrics, between 12 or 18 months post-completion.
