In February of 2012, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students will have the opportunity to attend five Early College STEM Schools (ECSS) that focus on technology skills and career readiness as well as earn college credits under a partnership agreement with five technology companies, CPS and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC). As a result, the first 101 students from Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy enrolled at Richard J. Daley College, one of the City College of Chicago, to take college-level Math and English courses that will count towards both their high school diplomas and associate degrees. On Saturday, September 20th, we recognized our new students from Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy in a convocation that provided an opportunity to meet Daley’s President, faculty, key staff and other students.
