ASSESSMENT

I need to complete Math and English assessment tests. How will the results affect my enrollment? Assessment tests determine each student's appropriate preparedness for college-level courses. New students should be taking classes at the appropriate level, and the assessment tests help determine that.

CAREER AND JOB PLACEMENT CENTERS

I don't know what I want to do. Who can help me figure out my choices?

City College Career Centers offer students job placement and referrals as well as the opportunity to engage in career assessment and exploration in an attempt to clarify their career intentions and engage in proactive career/life planning activities.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTERS*

I have been unable to find childcare while I attend class. Can my City College help?

Child Development Centers or babysitter drop-off services are available at most City Colleges. Eligibility is determined based on space availability and income. Contact your City College for more information.

CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING

I've been working in the same industry for six years and want to know if I can get credit for my experiences.

Students with previous life or school experiences are encouraged to seek credit via the Credit for Prior Learning

FINANCIAL AID

How do I apply for financial aid, including grants and scholarships?

Financial Aid is available to students at each college upon completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial Aid is awarded based on students' need for assistance in paying educational expenses. FAFSA applications can be obtained in the Student Services Office or can be submitted online. Work-study opportunities are also available for eligible students, contact your advisor for more information.

LEARNING RESOURCE CENTERS

I need help with my English class assignments. Is there anyone to help me? Learning Resource Centers are equipped to offer students academic support. Services offered include tutoring, study groups, computerized tutorial sessions, skills development workshops (i.e. study skills, time management, test taking, note taking, problem solving, critical thinking) and computer assistance.

SPECIAL NEEDS

I have a physical disability and want to know how my school can accommodate me. The Special Needs Office will make every effort to accommodate qualified students with disabilities. Students who have a need for disability accommodations are responsible for requesting such and providing all requisite documentation to verify eligibility to the Special Needs Office.

It is the policy of the City Colleges of Chicago that no qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of its services, programs or activities, or be subjected to discrimination. Our goal is to promote equality of opportunity and full participation in our services, programs and activities. We will endeavor to provide reasonable modifications and/or accommodations to qualified individuals in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and all pertinent federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES*

What clubs and activities are available? How can I get involved?

The opportunity for students to acquire out-of-classroom learning experiences is encouraged through active involvement in Student Government Associations, student organizations related to academic programs and competitive athletic teams available at most colleges. The student activity fee supports these activities. Information about available programs at your campus can be found in the Student Services Office.

STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

I haven't been able to concentrate on my classes because I feel overwhelmed at home. I need someone to talk to.

City College advisors are available to meet with students having personal problems. Each City College has entered into Service Linkage agreements with selected agencies that specialize in delivery of comprehensive human services. When appropriate, students may be referred to a local social service agency.

TRANSFER CENTERS

I know I want to transfer to a four-year university. How can I be sure that all of my credits will transfer?

Transfer Centers provide students with essential information about the Articulation Agreements that align CCC academic programs with those at four-year institutions, ensuring seamless transfer. Dual admission agreements with selected universities make dual enrollment an option available to City College students upon request and review.

U-PASS* CTA Transit Pass

Public transportation can get expensive for a full-time student. Is there help for me?

The Chicago Transit Authority makes discounted access to transportation available to City Colleges' students by offering the U-Pass to full-time students. Students can utilize their U-Pass to travel throughout the city.

*Not all services are available at every college.
