Upward Bound

The Upward Bound Program provides support to high school students in their preparation and continuance in college. The goal of the Upward Bound Program is to increase the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

The Malcolm X College Upward Bound Program will serve high school students from: Austin Community Academy, Crane Technical Prep Common, Manley Career Academy, and Marshall Metro Magnet.

The Daley College Upward Bound Program will serve Curie Metro H.S.,Farragut Career Academy,Kelly High School,Kennedy H.S., and Hancock College Prep

Upward Bound Program services include instruction in: Math, Science, English/Composition, Literature, and Foreign language.

Who Can Qualify?

First generation, low-income students and/or students with disabilities are eligible to apply.
Participants are selected without regard to race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, sex, or physical handicap.

The benefits of being selected include:
Individual tutoring, Study skill enhancement, Cultural opportunities, and career counseling.

How much does it cost?

Upward Bound is a funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education. There are no costs to the students.
