Configure Email on my Mobile Device

Following are instructions for setting up CCC mail on either an Android phone or an iOS device. Blackberry users should contact the cohelpdesk@ccc.edu. Android tablets are not supported at this time.

Before you begin, make sure your device’s wireless or cellular data connection is active. If you have any problems with this setup, please contact (312) 553-2600 or cohelpdesk@ccc.edu.   

Instructions for Android users 

  1. From the Applications menu, open Settings > Accounts & Sync.  
  2. Tap Add Account, and select Exchange ActiveSync.  
  3. Enter your full email address, for example myusername@ccc.edu or myusername@student.ccc.edu, and your password.  
  4. Tap Next.  
  5. Enter the following account information: 
  6. Tap Next. 
  7. As soon as your phone verifies the server settings, you may configure the following: 
    • Mail (leave checked to include) 
    • Contacts (leave checked to include) 
    • Calendar (leave checked to include) 
    • Tasks (leave checked to include) 
    • Update when opened (Your data is updated when the Email app is opened) 
    • Update schedule (Push is set by default, which means you will receive email messages and other data as soon as they are sent. You can manually adjust this setting for shorter or longer time.) 

Change Notification and other Settings

  1. Once you have configured your account, launch the Mail app for further configuration 
  2. Click the Menu button on your phone 
    • Tap Notifications to have your phone play a sound, vibrate, or display an email icon when new mail is received. 
    • Tap General Settings to change font, set signature, etc. 
    • Tap Send and Receive to adjust the amount of mail to keep, format, etc.  

Instructions for iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch users

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account. 
  2. Tap Microsoft Exchange
  3. Tap in the Email box and enter your full e-mail address for example, myusername@ccc.edu or myname@student.ccc.edu 
  4. Tap in the Username box and enter your full e-mail address again. (iPhone users) 
  5. Tap in the Password box and enter your password. 
  6. Optionally, tap in the Description Exchange box and enter a short description for the account such as CCC
  7. Tap Next on the upper right corner of the screen. 
  8. The Server setting should be automatically discovered for you. NOTE:  If Server is not automatically discovered, enter mail.office365.com and in the Username box, enter your full e-mail address.  
  9. Tap Next again. 
  10. Choose the type of information you want to synchronize. By default, Mail, Calendar, and Contacts are all turned on. 
  11. Tap Save. 
  12. Optionally, tap in the Mail Days to Sync option to change the amount of  mail that is stored on your device (The default is 3 days) 
  13. Tap Save on the upper right corner of the screen. 
  14. Your new E-mail account is now available from the Mail application. Optionally, you may wish to use a different mail app, such as OWA for iPad, available from the iTunes store.
