Many community college students have aspirations of completing a bachelor’s degree, but they start at a community college to save money and to improve their grades and mature as a student.
City Colleges of Chicago has formed partnerships and agreements with numerous four-year institutions to ease the transfer process for City Colleges students. Some of the institutions include Illinois Institute of Technology, Lewis University, DePaul University and University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
Ellen Goldberg, District Director of Transfer Services and Programs, has helped hundreds of students benefit from formal partnerships as well as transfer to prestigious institutions like Mount Holyoke College, Northwestern University, Cornell University and Columbia University.
These students include Harold Washington College 2013 graduate Stephanie Troche. Stephanie applied to UIC when she was a senior in high school but wasn’t accepted. She brought her grades up at Harold Washington College and applied to be a part of the Guaranteed Admissions Transfer Program with UIC. In the fall, she’ll attend her dream school.
