2/2/2012 12:00 AM

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced today that he is nominating Martin Cabrera, Jr., chairman of our Board of Trustees, as the chairman of the Chicago Plan Commission and recommending that City Colleges board member Paula Wolff replace him as chair.

“Civic and community leaders like Martin and Paula continue to step forward to offer their time and expertise to help shape the future of our city,” said Mayor Emanuel. “I am confident in their leadership abilities and look forward to their contributions to the Chicago Plan Commission and the City Colleges of Chicago.”

“We are grateful for Martin Cabrera, Jr.'s leadership and service helping to move Reinvention forward,” said Chancellor Cheryl L. Hyman. “As a board member, Paula Wolff has been a steadfast champion of reform, and as board chair, we know she will continue to be a tremendous advocate, ensuring City Colleges of Chicago prepares Chicagoans to win the jobs of today and tomorrow.”

Paula Wolff is Senior Executive at Metropolis Strategies, a business and civic organization affiliated with the Chicago Community Trust that is focused on implementing policy initiatives and programs for regional action on issues including land use, transportation, criminal justice and economic growth.

She also serves on numerous other boards including the Joyce Foundation, the Ariel Investments Board, the Metropolitan Planning Council, the Johnson Foundation, the University of Chicago Medical Center (Chair 1996–2006) and the University of Chicago Board of Trustees.
