We provide support and training to faculty in the use of instructional technology. We conduct workshops and consult with faculty and staff individually and in groups. Office of Information Technology (OIT) is dedicated to helping instructors incorporate technology into their teaching and learning. Some of the technologies that we help faculty to use include:
Blackboard 9.1 is our course management system that enables faculty to post syllabi, assignments and other materials on the web including multimedia without learning HTML or any programming skills.
Faculty also may extend classroom discussion through its on-line discussion board or chat functions; email students in their class; allow students to submit papers on-line and view their grades from the on-line grade center.
All students and faculty have Blackboard accounts and can access these materials by using their CCC username and password to log into the Blackboard site (ccc.blackboard.edu). These materials are accessible from anywhere at any time, as long as the user has internet access.
All courses taught at CCC automatically have a corresponding Blackboard course and all students and the instructor are automatically enrolled. Faculty must choose whether or not to make a Blackboard course available/visible to their students.
SMART BoardsA SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard, designed for engaging students and delivering unique, interactive presentations. Users can annotate over documents and websites with digital ink and can save notes for later or use with the SMART Notebook software.
TurnItIn is a tool within Blackboard that allows professors to create writing assignments for students, automatically check the assignment for "unoriginal work" (plagiarism), and provides an option to grade student papers online.
Turning Technologies Clickers is an audience response system. Faculty can convert PowerPoint presentations into interactive activities or create an impromptu interactive presentation. It's a great way to actively engage students and check students' level of understanding about class content.
