Early College Programs for High School StudentsThe City Colleges of Chicago is dedicated to creating opportunities for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit prior to graduating high school.

High school juniors and seniors may have the opportunity to enroll in college level courses before graduation.  This can reduce both the amount of time and money needed to complete your two-year and four-year degree.  In addition, students that earn college credit in high school are more likely to graduate high school and continue ​thro​ugh college. Students at participating high schools may elect to take a CCC college course at their school; or students can take a class at one of the seven CCC campuses while they are still enrolled in high school.   

Early College Opportunities:   

Dual Enrollment (DE)   

High school juniors and seniors can take a college class at one of the City Colleges of Chicago for FREE!  Students can enroll in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Students in Dual Enrollment frequently enroll in English, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Science, and Literature. Students can also enroll in career pathway courses including Automotive, Business, Early Childhood Development, Logistics, and Information Technology.

Dual​ Credit (DC)

The City Colleges of Chicago has partnered with a number of high schools to offer college credit classes for juniors and seniors at the high school.  Participating students will receive both college and high school credit for their work.  High Schools interested in becoming a Dual Credit partner should contact City Colleges of Chicago at 773-COLLEGE or earlycollege@ccc.edu​ for details.                                              
                          

Eligibility    

Students must be a least a junior or senior in high school by the time they start a Dual Credit or Dual Enrollment class. If student is younger than 16 and not a high school junior, the student must demonstrate​ college readiness in Math, Reading and Writing as well as obtain permission from the College President to participate.​                                                                             
Most courses require that students be college-ready as demonstrated by the ACT, SAT, or the CCC Placement Test. (See cutoff scores below). Before taking the test, make sure you prepare.

High school students may be able to receive college credit for work that was completed in high school.  The City Colleges of Chicago is working with Chicago Public Schools to create articulation agreements in Career and Technical Education (CTE) areas.  Upon successful completion of their high school course work, students may receive college credit upon enrollment at the City Colleges of Chicago.
