Skills Connection Program

Claire Boeck
Skills Connection Program Coordinator

The Skills Connection Program was established to help students with career preparation, career exploration and selection as well as the development of soft skills.

Soft Skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, stress management, motivation, and professionalism help make the most of your knowledge (aka hard skills). For example, without the ability to listen and communicate effectively (verbally and nonverbally) with a patient, a doctor's knowledge is not being fully utilized. A business owner might have a sound economic plan, but if he/she cannot motivate his/her staff, the plan loses its power. Soft Skills are sometimes called 'people skills' but they are much more because they require strategic thinking, self-awareness, and awareness of others' needs.
