Apply for Graduation

Each prospective graduate is responsible for applying for graduation.

Graduation Requirements for Degree & Certificate Programs

To be eligible to graduate from any credit certificate or degree program, students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses used to satisfy core curriculum and/or general education requirements and hold a minimum Graduation GPA of 2.0 or higher. Elective courses with a “D” final grade may count towards graduation. This policy is effective August 1, 2013 for all students entering or returning to the City Colleges of Chicago. Students who graduated prior to August 1, 2013 must hold either a minimum Graduation GPA or Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Graduation Campus

In accordance with CCC Academic Policy, the Graduation Campus is the college where the majority of a student’s Graduation Credit Hours (excludes pre-credit/remedial hours) were earned; the Graduation Campus must offer the program. If not, then the Graduation Campus is the college (that offers the program) where the most Graduation Credit Hours were earned. In case of a tie between two colleges, then the student can choose his/her Graduation Campus.

Graduation Review Process

Step 1: Complete and submit your online graduation application. Your graduation application will be routed to your Program Campus (college indicated by your academic program) for processing. You must submit a separate graduation application for each degree or certificate for which you are applying. Instructions for completing your application can be found here.

Note: We recommend using the Google Chrome browser when completing the application. If you encounter any problems in the application process, please email

Step 2: College Advisor review. An Advisor will review your coursework and credits to ensure you meet the graduation requirements of the degree or certificate for which you are applying. Be sure all of your credits (transfer, military, advanced placement courses and examinations, and credits by test or assessment) have been submitted, processed, and posted to your academic record. Credits not posted may not be used to satisfy graduation requirements.

Step 3: Graduation evaluation. Your Registrar will perform a final graduation evaluation. If you are currently enrolled in courses needed to satisfy your graduation requirements, a final decision on your application will be made after final grades are posted.

All email notifications about the status of your graduation application will be sent to your CCC student email account.

Requirements for a Second Degree

Students may earn a second degree from the college from which they have graduated. However, the second degree must be different from the first degree earned. Students seeking a second degree or certificate must enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 15 additional credit hours at the college after the first degree has been posted to the students' records.
