Lynnel Kiely
Lynnel has served as a full time psychology faculty member at Harold Washington College (HWC) since Fall of 1997. For four of those years, she served as Chairperson of the Social Science Department. Ms. Kiely has been active in many campus committees including the Assessment Committee, Strategic Planning and multiple Accreditation teams. She spent nearly 3 years serving full time on the CCC Reinvention Team, conducting research on faculty and staff development.  Currently, she serves as the Academic Online Coordinator for the disciplines of anthropology, psychology, sociology, and the survey social science courses (101 & 102).
Prior to HWC, Lynnel served five years as a full time counselor and part time instructor at Richard J. Daley College. There, she was responsible for career counseling, personal counseling, career planning courses and college survival courses. Prior to Daley, she served nine years as Career Services Director at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan. She served as a corporate trainer to the Kellogg Company, the Michigan Dept. of Corrections, Nippondenso USA, among many other international businesses. At the age of 24, she began her first position in higher education at Southwestern Michigan College (SMC) in Dowagiac, Michigan where she was hired to establish SMC's first-ever job placement office. She remained there for three and one-half years.
Professor Kiely holds a M.A. in Counseling Psychology and a M.A. in Human Resources Development. In addition, she holds graduate credit to earn a third M.A. in Education. Her B.A. Degree in Secondary Education was earned at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Professor Kiely belongs to many local, state and national professional development organizations where she has held leadership positions. She also is frequently contracted with many well-known higher education publishers to serve as a reviewer for their materials.
