Successful transfer takes careful planning. You should begin planning for transfer during your first semester at the City Colleges of Chicago, and meet with your adviser at least once per semester to make sure you're on track. The City Colleges has formed numerous agreements with four-year schools to make this process easier and to ensure you receive the fullest possible credit for your City Colleges of Chicago coursework.
Types of Agreements
- Compact Agreement of the Illinois Board of Higher Education The following universities will grant junior standing for transfer students in good standing:
Note: Students are not guaranteed admission to every major or program. A university may require additional courses or specific admission requirements for specialized majors or programs.
- Articulation These agreements either guarantee that the associate's degree will satisfy all general education requirements or they specify a list of courses that will be accepted by the four year institution in a particular major or program. For a

- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) or Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Shared agreements where each institution agrees to provide services to the students, such as advising at each institution and special events, especially those that foster transfer and familiarity with the college environment.
