Glossary of Terms

Methodology is based on the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).

Enrollment:  
The number of students that enrolled in the program for the first time in the Fall semester of the academic year. The enrollment number may include re-entry student(s).

Retention:
The percent of the enrollment cohortᵻ that were retained to the completion of the program. Retention is the same as completion of the program.

Completion: 
The percent of the enrollment cohortᵻ that completed the degree within the 100% timeframe of the program.     

Exam Participation Rate:
The percent of graduatesᶤ that took the certification exam. 

Exam Pass Rate:
The percent of graduatesᶤ that passed the licensure exam out of those who took the exam.

Graduate Placement Rate:
The percent of graduatesᶤ that are employed in surgical technology within the first twelve months after program completion.
