New Malcolm X College distance learning lab offers free tech, learning workshops

Please join us for Workshop Week to mark the opening of the Malcolm X College Distance Learning Lab,
April 23-27, 2012. All week long, the new lab, located in Room 2102 of the Carter G. Woodson Library,  will host a variety of workshops, including:

  • Health care career opportunities
  • IPad 2
  • Power Point basics
  • How to use Lecture Capture
  • Blackboard Connect and myMathLab to improve learning
  • Social networking for community colleges
  • Student workshop days: Monday, April 23-Wednesday, April 25 (10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.)
  • Faculty workshop days: Wednesday, April 25-Friday, April 27 (9 a.m.-5:00 p.m.)

The lab—made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor—will help prepare students for thousands of new, highly skilled health care jobs coming to the Chicago region in the next 10 years. The facility’s technology capabilities will offer nursing and health professions students the ability to learn from guest lecturers and faculty from various institutions.
