Malcolm X College Lady Hawks Win NJCAA District Championship, Advance to National Championship Tournament

The Malcolm X College women's basketball team defeated Williston State College 53-52 to capture the NJCAA District D Championship on March 13th.   The Lady Hawks advanced to the Final 16 and competed against the nation's best junior college programs at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament held from March 20th - March 24th in Salina, Kansas.


NJCAA Region IV Tournament News

Deangela Eaton was named Region IV MVP, Ariana Novak was named First Team All-Region and Head Coach Kim McQuarter was named Region IV Coach ​of the Year.

Deangela Eaton will represent the Malcolm X Lady Hawks on the 2012 Region IV Division I All-Region Team.  On behalf of the City Colleges of Chicago community and Malcolm X College, congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment!

The Malcolm X College Lady Hawks are seeking to build on the momentum from 2010 season when they qualified for the National Tournament to compete against the nation’s best in National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Basketball.  The Lady Hawks have two returning starters from last year’s team and are poised to repeat last year’s performance.  The Lady Hawks are led by Ariana Novak and Deangela Eaton.  Eaton ranks 12th in the nation in rebounds and blocks, averaging 11.2 and 2.7 respectively.

The Malcolm X College women’s basketball team competes in Region IV of the NJCAA at the Division I level. The NJCAA is the governing body of Junior College Athletics and has over 500 member’s nation-wide.  Student-athletes, coaches and staff members are expected to compete with honesty, integrity and exercise good sportsmanship at all times within the guidelines of the City Colleges of Chicago, Malcolm X College, and the NJCAA.
