Academic Support Center vision
The ASC will be an outstanding example of person-to-person and computerized tutorial services as well as a facility equipped with the latest technological advancements and auxiliary services necessary to achieve personal and academic success.
Services we offer
The Academic Support Center (ASC) at Malcolm X College offers FREE tutoring service for the following areas of academic discipline:
- Accounting
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Computer Information Systems (CIS)
- English – Reading & Writing
- Foreign Languages – Chinese and Spanish
- Math
- Physics
Located in Room 1601, the ASC is open to current and prospective students of the City Colleges of Chicago. The center also hosts periodic workshops to help students achieve their personal and academic goals.
Need to request tutoring services? Please follow these guidelines:
- Activate your Student ID card at the Front Desk.
Note: In order to see a tutor you must have a STUDENT ID or Driver’s License/State ID.
- Request a tutor for a given subject area at the Front Desk.
Check Tutor Schedule (found at the Front Desk) for tutor availability.
Note: A tutor may not be able to assist you if he/she is tutoring multiple students.
Tutor availability may vary depending on subject and number of students being serviced at the time of the request.- Inform Front Desk Attendant of the amount of time you would like to spend with the tutor.
Note: Tutoring Sessions are not to exceed 2 hours. You may still receive tutoring services after the 2 hours have concluded only if that particular tutor is not assisting another student. You must sign in at the front desk if you decide to see another tutor. We only accept appointments for our English Tutors.

Self Paced Tutoring Resources
Currently registered students can access the Academic Support Center (ASC) Blackboard course site.
Follow these steps to access this resource.
- Log in to ccc.Blackboard.com with your CCC user name and password.
- Under Course Catalog click Malcolm X College Catalog.
- Locate course name Academic Support Center (Third class on the list).
- In the Course ID column click the two down arrows next to the Course Id name.
- Click Enroll.
- Enter the access code 7000.
- Click OK. You are now enrolled and can find the course in your list of classes you are taking.
