Four Kennedy-King College wrestlers are in Des Moines, Iowa, competing against some of the country’s best athletes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Wrestling National Championship. The wrestlers qualified for the national tournament after successfully placing in the NJCAA Regional Tournament at Triton College in River Grove, Ill., earlier this month.
“City Colleges of Chicago would like to commend our student athletes for their hard work and perseverance throughout the season,” said Cyril Nichols, Director of Athletics for City Colleges of Chicago. “As these six students now move on to compete in the National Wrestling Championships, we wish them continued success in attaining their goals.”
The Kennedy-King College Statesmen are coached by Ken Ford and will be represented by the following athletes:
• 141 Weight Class: Royale Jones (placed 4th in Regionals)
• 149 Weight Class: Michael Anderson (placed 4th in Regionals)
• 184 Weight Class: David Whitaker (placed 2nd in Regionals)
• 197 Weight Class: Ameer Bogan (placed 4th in Regionals)
The NJCAA Wrestling National Championship runs from February 21 – 23, 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Kennedy-King College is in Division I, Region IV of the NJCAA and is one of the City Colleges of Chicago. Kennedy-King College’s sports teams include Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Soccer and Wrestling.
