Parent and Child1. Tech Prep gives students access to skills, education and career opportunities.

Skills education has not always been accessible or attractive. The workplace has changed and now a wide variety of lucrative technical careers are available to those who are qualified. The Tech Prep Program combines the last two years of high school with a two-year college technical certificate or degree program.

2. Tech Prep gives students focus and direction.

Tech Prep Programs lay out a four-year plan of study. Combining high school and college academics with technical skills. Tech Prep Programs involve input from local business and industry professionals, so students can be confident that they will have job opportunities when they complete the program. Tech Prep helps students make the transition from school to the workplace by showing them what they can accomplish in school and in the workplace.

3. Tech Prep provides a strong academic background.

Employers want candidates with strong academic backgrounds. The Tech Prep program features award-winning faculty in applied science (physics, chemistry, biology) along with applied mathematics and communications. This program combines strong academic skills with real life work skills that employers are looking for.

4. Tech Prep students learn highly valuable technical skills.

The good news is high skills will continue to pay off. There are technical positions at all levels. The day of high pay for low skills is past. In ALL sectors of the economy, there are growth jobs for now and for years to come. Almost all will require education beyond high school. Many do now but it is not known by much of the public. You can be sure that employers know about them and Tech Prep graduates.

5. Tech Prep makes a connection between learning and life.

Tech Prep offers an education based on the unique learning needs and interests of students. Tech Prep Programs can satisfy a variety of learning styles and needs. In every case, it is learning with a purpose the student understands. It is learning by doing.

6. Tech Prep is a path to college.

Tech Prep students can earn college credit for work they complete in high school. Completing a Tech Prep Program generally means earning a two-year associate degree. Tech Prep is both an alternative to and a path to the traditional four-year college degree. After completing their post-secondary Tech Prep Program, graduates will have valuable technical and study skills, something colleges and employers alike are seeking.

7. Tech Prep can offer career protection.

Tech Prep graduates have mastered difficult skills. They have developed an ability to learn and apply new technical knowledge. That ability attracts employers to Tech Prep graduates. With our world changing at an rapid rate, it is a safe bet most of us will confront several new generations of technology over the course of our work lives. The ability to learn is the best protection against career obsolescence.
