College Excel
The College Excel Program gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in City Colleges career programs while still in high school and earn high school and college credit.
Some programs also provide basic industry certification. Students may then enter employment with a basic certificate for a specific occupation. Students can continue their studies while working and earn their Associate of Applied Science Degree.
Benefits:
Participating high school students will receive both high school credit and up to six semester hours of CCC credit per semester. Students who begin the College Excel Program in their junior year and continue their college education in the summer may complete as much as one year of college by the time they graduate from high school.
To qualify for the College Excel Program, you must:
- Be a junior or senior CPS high school student.
- Have a 2.5 or better Grade Point Average.
- Have 90% attendance.
- Have a written recommendation letter from a counselor at your high school.
- Taking free placement tests at a City College and place at English 101-Composition I and/or Mathematics 118-General Mathematics.
