College Excel
College Excel Program affords high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in City Colleges of Chicago career programs while still in high school and earn high school and college credit.
Some programs also provide basic industry certification. Students may then enter employment with a basic certificate for a specific occupation from their college. Students can continue their studies while working, and earn their Associate of Applied Science Degree.
How does a student enroll?
High school students who take the City Colleges test and place at the college level may register for courses in a set of pre-approved career programs at any of the City Colleges of Chicago.
How much college/high school credit can a student receive?
Participating high school students will receive both high school credit and up to six semester hours of CCC credit per semester. Students who begin the College Excel Program in their junior year and continue their college education in the summer may complete as much as one year of college by the time they graduate from high school.
What is the cost to the student of the College Excel Program?
There is no cost to the student to participate in the College Excel Program.
Requirements:
Student must have dual enrollment in high school and CCC.
Student must pass college entrance exam.
Student must be referred by counselor.
