ESL and Citizenship

English as a Second Language (ESL) courses provide instruction for non-native English speakers so they may improve their English language and civics skills.  Through ESL courses students are better prepared to live, work and study in this country.  Courses are offered at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels and include speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary development, grammar and civics.

Citizenship courses are offered to prepare students for the U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization Examination.

English as a Second Language courses are for Illinois residents for whom English is not their native language.  International students and visitors are not eligible for ESL or other adult education courses.
